Edge protection seals
Edge protection seals perform two key functions: they reliably protect sensitive edges from damage and at the same time ensure a tight, clean connection at transitions. They are used, for example, on doors, flaps, bonnets or window frames, where their special shape provides secure fixation and sealing at the same time.
Precision and safety
A high-quality edge protection seal compensates for tolerances, reduces vibrations and thus makes a decisive contribution to noise reduction, tightness and durability of constructions. Thanks to precise extrusion and modern materials technology, the seals remain dimensionally stable and resilient even under intensive use.
Materials for edge protection seals
Three proven materials are available for different requirements:
- PVC: robust, economical and easy to maintain; suitable for standard applications with medium stress.
- TPE (thermoplastic elastomer): elastic, flexible and temperature-resistant, with very good resilience; ideal for frequently stressed applications.
- Silicone: permanently elastic, UV and weather resistant, and insensitive to extreme temperatures; the first choice for particularly demanding applications. Available in Shore hardnesses from 30 to 80. Shore hardness 60 is our standard.
Colours and custom colours
Our edge protection seals are available in black, white and window grey as standard. For production quantities of 200 metres or more, we can produce almost any RAL custom colour – for a perfect visual match to the construction and design.
Variants and special features
Our seals are also available in a talc-coated version. Talc-coated means that the surface is covered with a thin layer of talc, which reduces friction, facilitates installation and prevents sticking. This allows the profiles to be processed particularly cleanly and efficiently.
In addition, we offer special models with an integrated metal core, which ensure additional stability and a secure hold. These are available in various Shore hardnesses to be precisely tailored to the respective application:
- 57/78 ShA°
- 78 ShA°
- 65 ShA°
- 60 ShA°
- 70 ShA°
Thanks to this variety, edge protection seals can be individually adapted to the respective loads and areas of application.
Application & care
The seal is installed by simply attaching it to the edge. The metal core ensures a secure fit, while the flexible sealing material provides the sealing function. For a long service life, it is recommended to apply the seal to clean, grease-free surfaces and to clean it occasionally with a mild detergent.
