U-profiles

U-profiles are among the most commonly used technical profiles. Their characteristic U-shape makes them ideal for holding and guiding panels, glass or sheet metal. At the same time, they reliably protect sensitive edges from damage, compensate for tolerances and ensure a clean, stable finish. U-profiles are used in a wide variety of areas – from window and façade systems to furniture construction and industrial applications where secure fixing and permanent sealing are required.

Thanks to their versatility, U-profiles are indispensable in both new construction and renovation projects. They are easy to install, fit securely and offer protection and sealing in one.

U-profile materials

PVC (55, 70 and 85 ShA): A robust plastic with variable Shore hardness. Softer versions (55 ShA) offer high adaptability, while harder variants (70–85 ShA) are particularly dimensionally stable and are used in applications involving high mechanical stress.
TPE (30–80 ShA, standard 60 ShA): Thermoplastic elastomers combine flexibility and resilience with high resistance to UV radiation and weathering. With their wide range of hardness levels, they are suitable for a wide variety of applications – from soft, adaptable profiles to firm, stable variants.
Silicone (30–80 ShA, talc-coated or non-talc-coated): Resistant to extreme temperatures and ageing. Silicone U-profiles remain elastic even under extreme temperature fluctuations, making them particularly suitable for demanding conditions.

Colours

Standard colours: Transparent, black
Special colours: Ultramarine blue, white, umber grey, light grey, window grey, brown
Custom colours: Available in almost all RAL colours for orders of 200 metres or more

Special design features and variants

In addition to standard designs, there are U-profiles with special properties that expand the range of applications. These include variants with pull-out bars, which facilitate installation and ensure a secure hold, as well as self-adhesive profiles (3 mm), which enable quick fastening without additional brackets. Models made of silicone rubber are also available, which are particularly notable for their temperature and ageing resistance.

Installation & maintenance of U-profiles

Installing U-profiles is straightforward. They are slid over the respective edge or panel and then sit securely in place. Self-adhesive versions enable particularly quick attachment. To ensure that the profiles fulfil their function for a long time, regular cleaning and inspection is recommended – especially for outdoor applications.
