Technical profiles
Technical profiles are versatile components that play a central role in industry, trade, and construction. They serve as seals, guide elements, or flexible connections and ensure that components remain secure, stable, and at the same time movable or sealed. Thanks to their different shapes, technical profiles can be adapted precisely to the respective application – from simple flat profiles to specialized piping or flag profiles.
Technical Profiles
With technical profiles, it is not only the shape that determines the function, but also the material. Depending on the application, they must be soft and flexible to compensate for unevenness, or firm and dimensionally stable to withstand constant pressure. Resistance to weather, chemicals, or high temperatures is equally important in many areas.
Material selection for technical profiles
- PVC (55–85 ShA): A proven and cost-effective plastic. PVC profiles are stable, durable, and offer a good standard for many applications. With a possible Shore hardness of up to 85 ShA, it is also possible to manufacture very strong profiles that can withstand high loads.
- TPE (30–80 ShA, standard 60 ShA): Thermoplastic elastomers combine the elasticity of rubber with the dimensional stability of plastic. Soft TPE profiles adapt well to uneven surfaces, while harder variants offer greater stability. They are particularly weather and UV resistant and are therefore suitable for many outdoor applications.
- Silicone (60 ShA): Silicone profiles are highly elastic and extremely temperature-resistant. They retain their shape even in extreme heat or cold and are often used where conventional plastics reach their limits. They are also very durable and resistant to aging and embrittlement.
Special design features and variants
Depending on the application, the profiles are available in special variants. Talc-coated versions facilitate installation and reduce friction. Self-adhesive profiles in 3 mm or 6 mm offer quick fastening without additional brackets. There are also special models such as silicone rubber profiles for extreme temperature ranges, profiles with tear-out bars for secure hold, double-strand profiles for greater sealing effect, or asymmetrical variants with internal slots for special installation situations. Our colors are available in:
- Standard colors: Black, window gray
- Special colors: Transparent, ultramarine blue, white, brown, umber gray, light gray
- Custom colors: Available in almost all RAL colors for orders of 200 m or more
Product range
- Rectangular and flat profiles: The simplest form of technical profiles. They are suitable for sealing, covering, or as spacers and are versatile wherever a straight, flat seal is required.
- Angle profiles: These profiles have a right-angled shape and are often used at corners or transitions to seal or protect edges.
- U-profiles: They have a U-shaped opening and are used to hold and securely fix panels, glass, or sheet metal. At the same time, they protect the edges from damage.
- H-profiles: With their H-shape, they securely connect two panels or components. They are often used as connecting rails when two parts need to be joined tightly and stably.
- Chair profiles: Special profiles that are usually designed for frames or brackets. They provide stable guidance and ensure that components are held securely in place.
- Hose profiles: Round or hollow profiles that are characterized by their elasticity. They can be used as flexible seals for larger gaps or as damping elements.
- Round cords: Simple, round profiles that are ideal for press-fit or plug applications. They are easy to use and provide a permanent seal.
- Piping or flag profiles: These profiles are mainly used in textile and tarpaulin processing. They enable flexible materials such as tarpaulins or covers to be securely fastened and sealed at the same time.
Installation & care
For optimum performance, the profiles should always be installed on clean and dry surfaces. Depending on the design, they can be pressed in, laid on top, or glued. Self-adhesive versions allow for quick attachment, while talcum-coated versions facilitate processing. Regular cleaning and inspection prevents wear and tear and ensures long-term functionality.
