Foam rubber seals
Foam rubber (EPDM) is an elastic material with a fine-pored structure that impresses with its exceptional flexibility and deformability. Unlike compact elastomers, foam rubber can adapt perfectly to uneven surfaces, ensuring uniform, reliable sealing even with larger tolerances.
Foam rubber profiles are mainly used where a soft, supple material is required – for example, in doors with sensitive closing mechanisms, in areas with varying gap dimensions or in constructions that require comfortable and noise-reducing sealing.
Precision for long-lasting functionality
GfA foam rubber seals are manufactured to fit perfectly and are characterised by their high elasticity and resilience. The combination of modern extrusion processes, selected EPDM qualities and sophisticated profile technology results in products that prove their worth in both new construction and renovation projects. Our manufacturing processes comply with DIN 16941 / 3302, ISO 9001 and 14001, guaranteeing maximum precision, quality and sustainability.
Material selection: foam rubber
Foam rubber is particularly resistant to weathering, ozone and ageing. At the same time, it offers pleasant closing behaviour and effectively dampens noise. Depending on requirements, different degrees of hardness are available:
- 15 ShA – very soft, supple and ideal for sensitive closing systems or larger tolerances.
- 60 ShA – significantly firmer, dimensionally stable and suitable for applications subject to higher mechanical stress.
Our foam rubber seals at a glance
Standard versions are available in white, black and window grey. From a production quantity of 200 metres, almost any RAL colour can be produced.
Special design features:
- Anti-stretch thread (TPE) – exclusive to GfA, prevents changes in length during installation and use, ensuring a permanently accurate fit.
Typical areas of application
- Steel doors and frames – sealing for uneven surfaces or variable gap dimensions.
- Interior and exterior doors – reliable protection against draughts, dust, moisture and noise.
- Technical equipment and housings – vibration damping and sealing for flexible constructions.
- Renovation – ideal for replacing old, hardened seals to ensure a soft and supple seal again.
Installation & maintenance
Installation must be carried out on clean, dry contact surfaces. Old seals must be completely removed, new profiles must be inserted evenly and checked to ensure they fit correctly. After installation, the door must close smoothly and seal all around. Regular visual inspections for cracks or deformations, supplemented by cleaning with a mild detergent, will extend the service life. Worn seals should be replaced promptly to avoid loss of function.
