Steel frame seals
Steel frames are designed for high mechanical strength, dimensional stability, and durability. Their function as door frames is largely determined by the seal: it ensures reliable closing comfort, protects against drafts, noise, and moisture, and contributes to the energy efficiency of the door system.
Precision for long-lasting performance
GfA Dichtungen develops profiles that are precisely tailored to the geometry of steel frames. Millimetre-precise manufacturing, modern materials and sophisticated profile technology result in solutions that are equally impressive in new buildings and renovations and meet technical requirements in the long term. We manufacture in accordance with DIN 16941 / 3302 and are ISO certified according to 9001 and 14001 – for maximum precision, quality, and sustainability.
Material selection for steel frame seals
- PVC – dimensionally stable, easy to clean and economical; proven for standard applications with moderate mechanical and climatic stress.
- TPE – flexible, with very good resilience and temperature resistance; ideal for doors with high frequency of use and changing climatic conditions.
- Silicone – highly temperature-resistant, permanently elastic and weather-resistant; perfect for demanding applications with extreme mechanical or climatic stresses.
Our seals for steel frames at a glance
Standard versions are available in white, black and window gray. Brown and beige are available for selected profile series. Almost any RAL color can be produced for production quantities of 200 meters or more.
The Shore hardness according to scale A defines the material hardness: low values stand for soft, supple profiles, high values for dimensionally stable designs. For EPDM foam rubber profiles, GfA achieves Shore hardnesses of up to 15 ShA, ideal for uneven surfaces and sensitive locking systems.
Special design features:
- Anti-expansion thread – exclusive to GfA, prevents length changes during installation and use, ensures a permanently accurate fit. - Tear-out bar – integrated predetermined breaking edge for easy adaptation of the profile to special groove geometries.
Our product range
- Top 24 steel frame profiles – our best-selling steel frame seals, proven geometries with optimal fit.
- Profiles for vertical grooves – classic design with front seal mounting.
- Profiles for side grooves – side insertion, ideal for concealed groove positions.
- Profiles for diagonal grooves – designed for inclined groove shapes and defined contact forces.
- Hollow chamber profiles made of TPE – durable, elastic, high resilience
- Foam rubber profiles (EPDM) – soft, malleable, ideal for larger tolerances.
- Special seals – customised solutions for special requirements.
Installation & maintenance
Installation must be carried out on clean, dry contact surfaces. Old seals must be removed completely, new profiles must be inserted evenly and checked to ensure they fit correctly. After installation, the door must close smoothly and seal all the way around. Regular visual inspections for cracks or deformation, supplemented by cleaning with a mild detergent, will extend the service life. Worn seals should be replaced promptly to prevent loss of function.
